Ethical Systems

I will discuss some of the wide variety of ethical systems here, focusing on those that are beneficial to humanity while also detailing those that are harmful and why.

Among others, I will discuss the following systems:

- Aristotelian Ethics – based largely on the Nichomachean Ethics

- Christian Ethics – based on Christ’s actual teachings, not the mess Augustine, Aquinas, and others have made of these teachings

- Kant’s Moral Theory – with a focus on the categorical imperative and all that it implies

- Mill’s Utilitarianism

- Objectivist Ethics – This is hardly worth serious consideration for the serious thinker, but I’ll treat it here because it’s survived so long and is still considered viable by many intelligent people.

I’ll probably also touch on the ethical teachings of Epictetus, Marcus Aurelius, Lucretius (of De Rerum Natura fame), Diogenes (the Cynic), and others.
