This morning I was booed (jokingly) by a Mac fan who’s disappointed that I’m not going to buy an iPad. They should drug test the guy who chose the name iPad (how about iTampon?). The name and some other features (or lack thereof) were savaged in a Wired article. Humorous name aside though, the iPad looks like a very elegant and useful entertainment device, far better than any of the dedicated eReaders or other fancy media players. (I’m talking to you, Amazon and Archos). The short battery life (and non-removable battery), proprietary nature and dependence on iTunes are irritating, but if all you’re going to do is watch, listen, read, play, and surf, the iPad should make you happy.
