There’s an effort underway to build an open, distributed social network. The effort, called Diaspora, calls for a decentralized social network with each user owning and controlling their own node of the network and choosing (in complete freedom) what to share with other nodes.
I’m supporting the Diaspora project because the world needs a social network created with free and open source software and controlled by an international board concerned with the well-being of the network rather than profit. Diaspora is the best effort yet in that direction. Please join me in supporting it.
Note that I am not part of the Diaspora project, just a supporter.
