Apple denies that “app store” denotes a store for apps

Apple is suing Amazon over their use of the term “app store” to describe their, um, app store. This might be a new low for Apple. It’s hard to say given their tendency toward heavy-handed dealings with other companies. The funniest part of their position is the statement below.

“Apple denies that, based on their common meaning, the words ‘app store’ together denote a store for apps.”
