Slate profiles a very interesting project by an Evangelical Christian woman. She is attempting to completely follow the Bible’s instructions for women for one year. She will of course release a book about the experience. The article makes clear that this is not a stunt, but an attempt to make people think about what treating the Bible as the inerrant word of God and living according to that belief really means.
I applaud Ms. Evans on a great contribution to the Evangelical community. As a confirmed atheist and humanist and amateur philosopher, I welcome the introduction of focused attention on the elements of one’s belief system, to see if it’s internally consistent and capable of actually being “lived”. Hopefully, a great many people will benefit from the introspection Ms. Evans’ exercise calls for.
